I had been on this forum for a few months when Simon announced it was closing. I was isolated, vulnerable and terrified. Moxie started JWR and it was a real haven for me. Not least because there was a members only section which felt secure because people weren't immediately granted entry. It was a safe place and I was very grateful for it.

To my knowledge there were no threats from the WT. Take off the tin foil hats there's no conspiracy here just a guy choosing to close his website. Let's see what response DS gets to the request to temporarily open up again.

I was a mod there and would like to say that I haven't disfellowshipped anybody. I was opposed to the manner of the closure (and voiced it) but respect the right of the owner to choose his own way to go about it.
The site was a great support for many and I hope it will be remembered as such and not just judged on one decision about how it was closed.

The decision was prompted by the two admin deciding they wanted to move on and become ex ex JWs. They needed the site "gone" for themselves and did not want to pass it on both for personal and practical reasons such as security of other people's data.
That site filled a niche and I think it's a great loss but at the end of the day any forum is the property of the owners not the members. That site was set up in response to Simon deciding to close this one, a decision he ultimately reversed. I don't think the admin the wanted to throw themselves open to pleas to keep it going when it wasn't the right thing for them.

Hi wizzstick
I did make that point to admin but the decision was only made a week ago and they were dead set on closing ASAP without discussion with the membership. I think a lot of people will find their way here.

by slimboyfat inwho was the poster, about 8 years ago, who came on the forum and claimed he had inside information that the gb were planning radical changes.

TWO MEN who changed Watchtower History but YOU NEVER HEARD of them!
by TerryWalstrom intwo men who changed watchtower history but you never heard of them!
cults are famous for control--especially controlling information about people, places and events which are embarrassing to their self-myths.. especially is this true for two important figures in watchtower history.. .
the first man is william f. hudgings.

The Greatest Intellectual Scam of All-Time: French Postmodernism
by cofty insbf you annoyed me enough to deserve this.. gad saad's comments on the nonsensical gibberish of jacques derrida, michel foucault, and jacques lacan.
charlatanism of the highest order.
.... the first quote from derrida starts as 2:50.

My view is the "scientific method" had become a bit of a gold standard which some people want to apply to everything; from this perspective there are universal facts "out there" to be discovered. However your methods shape the knowledge you produce. Empirical, experimental methods work well for the natural sciences they leave room for huge oversights and unacknowledged assumptions when it comes to areas like psychology and philosophy.
Edited to add: I believe I am sufficiently qualified to venture an informed opinion on this topic.
